Sweet and sour chicken
Sweet and sour chicken is a famous dish in Chinese cuisine. The merge of these two flavors give rise to an amazing contrast! Thus why not cook it yourself? In this recipe, we show you how!

Ingredients
- 500 grams Chicken Breast
- 1 Shallot
- ½ Green, Yellow and Red Pepper
- 1 Chicken Bouillon Cube
- 2 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
- 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 2 tsp Corn Starch
- 300 grams Pineapple
- 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 1 tbsp Tomato Paste
- 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
- 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
- 125 mL Water
Instructions
- Cut the chicken breast and the peppers into slices
- Slice the shallot in small pieces
- Cut the pineapples into round slices and divide them into cubes
- Put the sesame oil in a pan on medium heat and pour the chicken
- Cook the chicken
- Once done, put the chicken on a plate and cover it with aluminium foil
- Then in the same pan pour the onions and the peppers and cook them on medium heat until they start to melt
- Next add the pineapples and reduce on low heat while stirring from time to time
- Now in a separate pot, add the water and the bouillon cube and stir with a whisk on medium heat until it is dissolved
- Then add the sugar, corn starch, soy sauce, tomato paste, vinegar and lemon juice to the bouillon and keep stirring with a whisk until the sauce thickens
- Now once the sauce starts boiling, let it cook for a couple of minutes
- Reduce the heat to minimal and pour the chicken in the sauce
- Stir well for a couple of minutes and add everything in the pan
- Finally stir everything in the pan for another couple of minutes on low heat and you’re done!
Notes
Our Cooking Hints:
- This dish is best served with rice
- You can replace the chicken with shrimps but don’t forget to replace the chicken bouillon cube with a fish bouillon cube
