Black forest cake
Black forest cake is an international cake you can prepare for any special occasion. All you have to do is to know how to obtain a chocolate sponge cake and you can then decorate it anyway you want.
Equipment
- A cake ring
- Baking Sheet
- A cake bowl
- A cake mixer
- A Stainless steel bowl
Ingredients
- 8 Eggs
- 240 grams Flour
- 240 grams Sugar
- 50 grams Cacao
- 1 tsp Butter
- 1 tsp Flour
For the decoration
- 2 Can of fruits medium
- 400 mL Heavy Cream
- 60 grams Powder Sugar
- 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
Instructions
Whipped Cream
- Place a stainless steel bowl in the fridge for about 2 hours
- Take the bowl out of the fridge and pour in the heavy cream, with 1 tbsp of Vanilla Extract
- Start mixing using the electric mixer at medium speed
- When air starts to get incorporated in the cream, add the sugar and raise the mix speed to high
- Keep mixing until you get the whipped cream texture. Do not overmix otherwise fat will separate from the liquid and you'll obtain butter
Sponge chocolate cake
- Add the eggs and the sugar in the cake mixer and mix them for about 20-30 mins until the mixture becomes white and creamy (mousse)
- In a bowl, mix the cacao and the flour
- Manually and very slowly, add the mixture of cacao and flour to the eggs and sugar and mix them together
- Cover you cake ring with butter and flour then add the cake mixture
- Bake your cake for about 20-25 mins at 180 degrees Celsius (356 degrees Fahrenheit)
- Let it cool for about 45 mins up to an hour on a cooling grid
Decoration
- Cut your baked cake into 2 or 3 parts
- Cover each part with fruit juice (you can use the canned juice fruit) and cover it with whipped cream
- Add your fruits to each part (You can also add an additional whipped cream layer for extra taste)
- Decorate the last part of your black forest cake with cream, fruits and chocolate chips

Our Cooking Hints
- If you want a vanilla sponge cake you have to add one tbsp of vanilla extract and omit the cacao from your mixtureÂ
- You can use any kind of fruits you want for the decoration or any kind of juice (fresh or canned)
