Chinese Lemon Chicken

Chinese Lemon Chicken is a fine dish from the Asian cuisine, which perfectly merges the sweetness and sourness of lemons with the tender taste of chicken. It is guaranteed to take you on the most exotic trip!

Equipment

  • 1 Fryer (or Pot)
  • 1 Small Pot For the sauce
  • 1 Pan
  • 1 Mixing Bowl
  • 1 Wooden Spoon
  • 1 Whisk

Ingredients
  

  • 400 grams Chicken Breast Cut in cubes
  • 1 cup Flour T55-T65
  • 3 Eggs
  • ¼ tsp Sweet Pepper
  • 1 cup Corn Flour
  • tsp Lemon Juice
  • cup Rice Vinegar
  • tsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Zest Grated
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • ½ tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • 0.5 L Cooking Oil (if no fryer available)

Instructions
 

  • Cut the onion and bell pepper into big chunks
    1 Onion, 1 Green Bell Pepper
  • Place them in the pan on low heat
  • In the meantime, pour the lemon juice in a separate pot
    1½ tsp Lemon Juice
  • Followed by the sugar and mix well
    2 tbsp Sugar
  • Add the rice vinegar, soy sauce, sweet pepper, garlic powder
    and mix well
    ¼ tsp Sweet Pepper, ⅓ cup Rice Vinegar, 2½ tsp Soy Sauce, ½ tsp Garlic Powder
  • Once your pepper and onion start to soften, turn off the heat
  • Place your lemon sauce on medium heat and stir frequently
  • Lower heat to minimal and in the meantime, start adding water
    progressively to your corn flour while stirring
    2 tbsp Water, 1 cup Corn Flour
  • Add it to your lemon sauce and stir well
  • Keep stirring until the sauce thickens
  • Add the onion and pepper to your sauce,
    followed by the lemon zest and mix well for
    a couple of minutes
    1 tbsp Lemon Zest
  • Turn off the heat, your sauce is ready!
  • In a separate bowl, beat the 3 eggs
    3 Eggs
  • Dip each piece in the egg batter, followed by flour
    and place it on a separate plate
    1 cup Flour
  • Repeat for the remaining pieces
  • Warm the oil up to 180 degrees Celsius (356 degrees Fahrenheit)
    Once hot enough, place the chicken pieces and let them cook for about 5-8 minutes,
    until they become golden and very well cooked on the inside
    0.5 L Cooking Oil, 400 grams Chicken Breast
  • Place the cooked pieces on an absorbing paper
  • Your cooked chicken is ready!
  • Pour the lemon sauce, and over the chicken and serve!

Our Cooking Hints:

  • This dish is best served with a cup of steamed rice
  • You can replace the lemon juice and lemon zest with orange juice and orange zest to obtain the famous orange chicken version of this dish
  • You can also serve along with pineapples
