Flour Tortilla Bread

Ingredients
  

  • 500 grams Flour T55 - T65
  • 300 mL Milk Skimmed or Full Cream
  • 90 mL Vegetable Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • ½ tsp Sugar

Instructions
 

  • Start by mixing the flour, salt, sugar and baking powder in a bowl
  • Next add to them the milk and start mixing using a kitchen aid or manually with a spatula
  • When the dough start coming together, add the vegetable oil
  • Keep mixing until you obtain a smooth dough
  • Now cover it for 30 minutes
  • Next put a large pan on high heat (do not add any grease)
  • Then divide your dough into 8 pieces of roughly 110-120 grams each
  • Using a pastry roll, give them a round shape and try to have them as thin as possible
  • Once your pan is hot enough, place your round dough on it
  • After 20 – 30 seconds, bubbles starts to form, that’s where you will flip it on the other side
  • Let it cook for about a minute and flip it again
  • Now your dough might start rising and that’s normal, cook it for about a minute
  • Now remove your newly baked tortilla and place it on a plate to cool down
  • Repeat for all the dough pieces

Our Cooking Hints:

  • You can replace the usual milk with almond milk for a vegan version
  • You can use oat flour along with wheat flour to obtain some delicious oat dough
  • Do not overcook your tortillas otherwise they will easily break
  • You can preserve them for a couple of days by placing them in zip lock bags
